  Truro 3 - 2 Foxhole AFC
Saturday 13th November 2010
(League)

Foxhole somehow contrived to lose this entertaining encounter, squandering a host of second-half chances against a home side strengthened by the inclusion of Jake Ash but who again finished the match with ten men, after the 73rd minute dismissal of Shaw following an altercation with Ralph, who was booked. The Foxes went ahead after 7 minutes, Raven flapping at newcomer Palin's corner for Ralph to hook home from ten  yards. Another debutant, Trudgeon, then flicked on Adam Holland's lofted free-kick, but Friendship could only fire wide before making amends on 24 minutes, slipping the ball beyond Raven after Ralph clearance had caught the Truro rearguard square. However, the turning point of the match arguably came two minutes later when referee Hale awarded a highly debatable penalty against Holland, Ash appearing to trip over his own feet. Bishop confidently despatched the spot-kick past stand-in keeper Barrett, who was beaten again nine minutes prior to the break when Ash again abandoned his central defensive position to releash Vanes, whose shot found the far corner of the net.

Foxhole dominated the early stages of the second-half but were unable to find a way past a determined Truro side. Friendship set up two opportunities for Palin, one of which hit the side-netting, the other saved by the legs of Raven, while, following a flowing move, Douglas failed to hit the target with two close-range attempts. Friendship then chose to take his shot early from Laughton's pass allowing Raven to gather easily, Palin saw two efforts deflected away from goal and Laughton twice tried his luck from distance, one of which crashed against the bar as Truro clung on, their task seemingly made harder by Shaw's red card soon after Vanes' name had been taken for a foul on Trudgeon. Against the run of play, Pascoe's long ball found Bowyer looking suspiciously offside, but he kept his composure to steer the ball past Barrett with 12 minutes remaining. Jack Unknown and Gribble were each booked for fouls as Truro doggedly stuck to their task, continuing to ride their luck as both Friendship and Holland nudged wide from five yards, and from successive Laughton corners, Ralph's header was cleared off the line by Pascoe and Holland deflected Ralph's knockdown over the bar. Palin and Douglas were also cautioned during the frenetic finale, the gathering rain clouds following an initially beautiful day a fitting metaphor.
