Foxhole's unhappy season petered out with a resounding thrashing and yet another pointless dismissal for Griffin. The marine had been guilty of squandering two early chances but it hardly mattered, such was the subsequent gulf in class. Soon after Paxton had been denied twice in rapid succession by Ryan Holland, Mackellar, out of his depth in midfield, lost the ball to Fallons who released Lowry to score easily on twelve minutes. The Foxes somehow held out until the break largely due to some indifferent finishing, most notably by Lowry, who inexplicably failed to double his tally from close range, and by Whigg, whose low effort was saved, although Ralph was unfortunate to see a header from Bird's corner scrambled away by Flannigan, and Griffin was a whisker away from equalising with a shot from twenty-five yards after turning the otherwise unruffled Peacock. Mackellar's uncomfortable evening was exacerbated with a caution for a foul on Fallons, while Spaul was ludicrously also booked for re-entering the field of play following an injury without the express permission of the depressingly poor referee.
 
The second half plunged new depths of mediocrity even prior to Griffin's second yellow on sixty-four minutes, following fouls on first Dilley, and then Pinnell. An unmarked Paxton, having only just wasted an opportunity when clean through, made it 2-0 from Whigg's cross on fifty minutes, and, while Moore's tap in from Dilley's centre did not arrive until nine minutes from time, the sight of the visitors blatantly toying with the Foxes was hard to stomach, although there was some welcome relief when Paxton was cautioned for a clash with Bird, (himself booked soon after for clashing with Pinnell) and Harris for kicking the ball away. Within moments of Moore's goal, Paxton fired a fourth under Holland, the final sorry act of a desperate season.
