Two more goals from Foxhole legend Richard Griffin secured the points but the home team will be extremely grateful to their keeper Ryan Holland's superlative efforts as the visitors somehow travelled home with nothing to show for creating numerous golden chances. The Foxes, outnumbered in central midfield, struggled to contain the triumverate of Bell, Freethy and the outstanding Roberts during an entertaining first half, while the front three of Lawrence, Thomas and Richards caused all sorts of problems.
However, Holland's heroics were to prove decisive, his first save on ten minutes typifying his afternoon, diving smartly to his right to deny Richards, who was soon unlucky again after turning Stephen inside out. Freethy was similarly foiled while both Cooper and Roberts went close with explosive volleys, and Matt Thomas blazed wastefully too high from six yards as Hayle continued to impress, although it must be said they were themselves finding the surging runs of Griffin difficult to deal with, the marine twice almost netting from passes by Ben Thomas. Stephen's header from Trudgian's deep corner was scrambled off the line by Uren, and Rundle's daisycutter following intelligent play from the excellent Faircloth was gathered by Carter as the home team contributed fully to the excitement, creating arguably the half's best opportunity which was squandered from close range by Cunningham, afforded the freedom of the box by a rearguard too reliant on the linesman's flag. Three minutes before the break, though, Bell's shot from twenty-five yards dipped in the wind over an exposed Holland to give the visitors a lead their more cohesive play probably warranted.
Immediately on the restart the referee inexplicably failed to award a penalty after Carter clattered into Griffin, but when the scenario was repeated eleven minutes later a spot-kick was given, Griffin duly levelling past a keeper evidently relieved only to have been shown yellow. On nineteen minutes Griffin found himself clear again and, after initially appearing to have fatally delayed pulling the trigger, his exquisite chip found the top corner. The Foxes were now getting much tighter to the likes of Freethy, and Griffin was continuing to torment both Uren and his replacement Curtis, so they were able to threaten to increase their lead, Griffin nodding wide Thomas' free-kick and blasting Cunningham's tremendous assist into the caravan site with only Carter to beat. However, Hayle were always in the game, seeing efforts from Roberts and Matt Thomas cleared from beneath the bar by Ben Thomas and Trudgian respectively, while Ryan Holland again excelled to deny Roberts' blistering drive and Thomas on two occasions when the fleet-footed striker raced clear.
