Foxhole AFC 3 v 4 Mount Charles
(2nd Team Friendly) |
 |
|
Foxhole got off the worst possible start going down a goal in the 1st minute. Mount Charles went on and scored another within 10miins and added another two before half time. Foxhole just did not turn up for this 1st half. Mount Charles well deserved there 4 nil lead. Mount Charles were a strong side, wanting the ball far more than Foxhole throughout the 1st 45mins.
Foxhole came out the 2nd half, what looked like a different side. Playing with more work rate and passion for the team.
Fox’s built on this better play by Sleazy opening the fox’s account scoring with a ball slotted into the corner of the net. Sleazy had many more chance before he scored his 2nd to bring the score within reach.
Jamie Killen netted next for fox’s for his 1st goal for the club, a sneaky goal that fooled the Mount Charles keeper who thought the ball was going wide and left, only for the ball to shave the post and in, Fox’s piled on the pressure to try and find another goal. Phil James came closed with his penalty which he skied over the bar. Next Grylls had a chance to put the ball, over the line, but failed to connect with the ball.
Score line finished 4-3 to Mount Charles, which is a pretty fair result. Due to Mount Charles 1st half performance.
We learnt more about ourselves today than in our 1st two pre season games.
When we had played poorly in the 1st half and then to come out the 2nd half to dig in and find 3 goals and play with more heart.
Donkey of the match – Grylls, for his goal line miss.
Man of the match – Scott, what can I say, a 16 year old on his men’s football debut to be told by his team mates that he is there choice of man of the match. For me this young lad is going to be such an important part of the team. Scott plays like a 25yr old that has been playing for some time.
Other mentions for Josh Harvey who is getting better every time he plays, and is a joy to have around the team.
Finally CJ who has proved very popular with all his team mates and is lovely to see him playing with a smile on his face.
Training Tuesday 6:30 then home to St Stephen on Thursday.
