Foxhole v St Stephen
A bit late I know, for this report. This game took place on Thursday night and now sitting here on Sunday night.
The game started and Fox’s got off to a flying start, with our first attack from the kick off. Going close from a Grylls cross. It took only 10 minutes more of pressure on St Stephen’s goal before Fox’s netted from a wonderful worked goal and a clean finish by Grylls. Fox’s worked hard from back to front to keep possession and play some good football. Fox’s scored their 2nd before half time, another great finish this time from young Ryan Hale.
2nd half started much the same as the 1st half ended, until St Stephen played a long ball over the top to give them a chance at goal one on one with the keeper, only for Pic’s to somehow find some pace in his locker, to catch up and take the ball from St Stephen striker, for Fox’s to go on the counter attack.
It took 15 mins for Fox’s to score there 3rd, if my memory is correct this time a goal by Phil James. From a cross from Baller, the four goal was provided by Phil for Baller to score. Fox’s should of and could have scored 6 or more goals from decent chances.
The score ended 4nil to Fox’s. Lots of positives from this game. Some lovely passing football today and a clean sheet, a sign that our defensive problems are being sorted.
Donkey of the Week – Darren (the gaffa) for trying to make a sub whilst the ball was in play and in the keepers hands, doh !
Man of the match – Ryan Hale, excellent choice, this 16yr old caused absolute chaos down the left wing. St Stephen were pulling their hair out not having a clue how to stop him providing to Fox’s front men.
Foxhole v Roche 1st
This game was passed over to us late on Thursday night from our 1st team, as most our 1st team players were attending one of the players, Wedding, Congratulations Pete May.
Anyway over to the game, this game was always going to be a massive test as Roche 1st are two leagues above us and 9 of Fox’s players had played for Roche FC before.
The game started and Roche settled well and were hungry to get the ball and keep it. There was an Ariel battle to be won and it went to Roche.
Roche scored with about 20mins gone, a goal mouth scramble where Roche hit the ball over the line.
Fox’s did get forward on counter attack and looked good going forward, but Roche showed they are a well drilled side, all players knowing their jobs. The game was always going to be a battle for possession and this battle went to Roche in the 1st half.
2nd half Fox’s came out and played with far more believe after some excellent words of wisdom from Ralphy. Fox’s really got there passing game going and scored from a true bit of football, a ball from Gilts out to Baller for a lovely cross for Phil James to finish, to bring the score to 1-1.
Fox’s took control of the game and went looking for their 2nd. Which never came, although would have been justice.
The next thing to report, I am sorry to say was not nice. I think its best not to comment at this stage. Other than an Ambulance was called for a Fox’s Player.
The game was restarted after 30mins and the game was never going to be the same, for either side. Although Fox’s again got back into their passing game. The game was then ended early after a yellow card was shown for abusive language. I think the ref made the right call to end the game at this point.
To sum up this game, was spoilt by a few silly tackles flying in. But I am proud that Fox’s players in general conducted themselves in a correct manner and the football we played especially in the 2nd half was good passing football.
Donkey of the week - none for this week.
Man of the match – The whole team. |
