A fantastic second-half display saw the battling Foxes overcome a two-goal deficit to secure their fourth win in six games. Defending a strong wind, Foxhole had been placed on the back foot almost immediately by their youthful opponents, and were indebted to Ryan Holland for a fine save from attacking midfielder Robinson's tenth minute drive. The same player then went close from twenty-five yards before delaying his shot following an intelligent one-two with Thomas, allowing Lawrence to clear. The visitors' outside left, slender and cunning as a Fox, golden mane contrasting with the greyness of the weather, was especially lively and, shortly after trying his luck from distance, swung in a corner which Mackellar misdirected into his own net on twenty-six minutes. Within seconds, Dan Stidwell, who had impressed with his direct running, let fly from wide on the right, only for the ball to deceive Holland and slip between his knees and into the net. Stidwell may have put the game out of reach before the break, seeing a volley tipped over before showing good feet to create space for a shot which cannoned off the bar. Foxhole could not muster a chance until the thirty-eighth minute when Rowe's thunderous half-volley was well held by the hitherto unemployed Grey, whose subsequent discomfort at Pinhammer's stoppage-time centre offered hope that all was not yet lost.
And so it proved after the restart as Foxhole scored four times inside twenty-five minutes as the Port defence crumbled amid incessant home pressure. Hazeldine's fiftieth-minute header from Pinhammer's free-kick brought out the best in Grey, but, from the resulting corner, Mackellar poked in from three yards after the keeper had flapped unconvincingly at the ball. Five minutes later, Rowe beat three players before unleashing a fierce shot which flew into the far corner, which was soon followed by a third when another inswinging corner by the industrious Pinhammer dropped underneath the bar despite the efforts of Strike on the line. Porthleven had been rocked but were then to enjoy a decent spell when they squandered three highly presentable opportunities for an equaliser. First Dan Stidwell's square pass released Robinson to fire narrowly wide before Fox's free-kick was flicked on by the lanky Thomas to Robinson, whose shot was deflected past the upright, while only Mackellar's block foiled Fox from converting another Stidwell assist. It was therefore against the run of play when Grey again failed to deal with Nicholls' looping backheader from the excellent Ansell's cross and it appeared Foxhole may need their two-goal cushion as the visitors resumed the offensive, Dan Stidwell blazing wide from the edge of the box before his corner flashed across goal. Five minutes from time, kamikaze defending allowed Thomas to make it 4-3 from close range but there were no further alarms during interminable injury time as Adam Holland marshalled his rearguard magnificently, and only a post prevented Rowe hitting a late fifth from another pinpoint centre by Pinhammer, whose continued selflessness epitomised the spirit of the defiant Foxes.
